EMULSIFIED OIL,DUST CONTROL
A light or medium bodied mineral oil, a synthetically prepared product, or a combination thereof, which is used in transformers, oil circuit breakers, and other electrical apparatus as an insulating or cooling medium or both.
A clear, well-refined petroleum oil, free from sediment and other foreign material having no objectionable odor, and suitable for use on wood floors. It may be scented with cedar oil, pine oil, or similar substance.
A translucent, waxy solid consisting of a mixture of solid hydrocarbons chiefly of the methane series obtained from petroleum, for commercial use.
A compound of unspecified wax composition and other lubricating media, compounded for application to the runner surface of skis. When of a specific wax composition, use specific wax name.
A compound of wax of nonspecific composition with rosin, pitch, or any other suitable material that would not be injurious to thread and/or leather. It is used generally by saddlers and shoe repairmen, and may be used in sewing canvas. When of a specific wax, use specific wax name. See also BEESWAX, TECHNICAL.
A compound of nonspecific composition with lubricant(s), filler(s), and/or extender(s) which is applied to thread on a leather stitching machine. When of a specific wax, use specific wax name.
A wax derived from petroleum and characterized by the fineness of its crystals as compared with the larger crystals of paraffin wax. It consists of saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons such as C48H98.
An oil or other fluid compounded for use as an indicating element in instruments, such as gages, manometers, measuring instruments, and the like. Excludes CALIBRATING FLUID, AIRCRAFT FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
The oil obtained from the distillation of pine tree stumps, or the cones and needles of pine trees. Excludes medicinal grades.
PARAFFIN WAX CAPSULES
WAX,PLASTICIZING,MIXED ISOMERIC TERPHENYL
A synthetic wax used as a plasticizing agent in paints and related materials.
A vegetable or animal oil used with a SEA ANCHOR for quieting the surface of the sea around a boat.
A solid petroleum product formulated for use as a gasket seal. It is noncorrosive to metals and is melted before it is applied.
A wax compound used by shoe repairmen as a polishing agent for finishing the heel and sole edges of leather footwear to a high luster after major repairs have been completed. Polymeric ethylene based wax of pure hydrocarbon origin without additives. Properties vary with degree and type of branching.
A liquid usually obtained from crude petroleum or shale oil by refining, and is either a distillate, residual or combination of the two.
A refined medium petroleum distillate used as an illuminant in lamps and as fuel in stoves and in some types of internal combustion engines. Excludes KEROSENE, DEODORIZED and PROPELLANT, KEROSENE.
A medium petroleum distillate, water-white and practically odorless, normally used as the vehicle in insecticides and/or magnetic inspection oils, as the base in some metal and wood cleaners and polishes, and the like. A semisolid or plastic mixture of soap and mineral oil and/or fatty oils which, when diluted with a proper amount of water, is used for the lubrication and cooling of cutting tools in machining of metals.
PRESERVATIVE FLUID,AUTOMOTIVE BRAKE SYSTEM
A fluid of vegetable or synthetic origin, or combination thereof, used as a preservative for automotive brake parts and components in warehouse storage, and for vehicles in standby storage. It may also function temporarily as an automotive brake fluid for short periods, such as moving from storage to shop.
A jellylike, oily, translucent mass obtained in the fractional distillation of petroleum for commercial use. It is yellow to amber colored and its consistency varies with the temperature. Excludes PETROLATUM, LIQUID, TECHNICAL.
A dispersion of graphite in a liquid which is other than refined petroleum oil, silicone fluid, or caster oil. For items having a refined petroleum oil, silicone fluid, or castor oil vehicle, see LUBRICATING OIL, COLLOIDAL GRAPHITE. Excludes GREASE, GRAPHITE.

A refined mineral oil specifically prepared for use in smoke generators, characterized by its ability to be dispersed into the air as extremely small particles in the form of a smoke.
A blend of refined light petroleum oils, petroleum derivatives, and other suitable ingredients, suitable for penetrating rust and corrosion and loosening frozen metallic parts, such as nuts, bolts, pins, and the like. Excludes LUBRICATING OIL (as modified).
LUBRICATING OIL,MINERAL,STEAM CYLINDER
A straight mineral oil free from additive agents other than pour point depressants. It is generally suitable for steam cylinder lubrication where a heavy cylinder oil is necessary.
A nonspreading, nongumming, noncorrosive oil prepared for lubrication of jewel and steel bearings in timepieces.
A petroleum product compounded with various fatty materials. It is generally used for lubrication under conditions involving condensed steam or humid air.
A noncorrosive mineral, synthetic, or biobased oil with special oxidation resistant and rust-inhibiting additives for use in hydraulic systems, Waterbury speed reducers, and plane lifts.
LUBRICATING OIL,STEAM TURBINE
A noncorrosive mineral oil with special oxidation resistant and rust-inhibiting additives for lubrication of turbines.
LUBRICATING OIL,VACUUM PUMP
A petroleum product characterized by low vapor pressure. It is used especially for lubrication of vacuum pumps.
LUBRICATING OIL,REFRIGERANT COMPRESSOR
A highly refined, neutral, moisture-free oil, with or without additives, prepared for lubrication of cylinders in refrigerant compressors.
An oil primarily prepared for lubrication of aircraft instruments, gyro instruments, electronic equipment, gyros in torpedoes and aerial bombs, and calibrating and measuring instruments.
A petroleum or synthetic product with load-carrying properties, especially prepared for lubrication of various type gears, such as worm gears, spiral bevel type gears, hypoid gears, transmissions, or the like.
LUBRICATING OIL,COLLOIDAL GRAPHITE
A colloidal graphite dispersed in a refined petroleum oil, silicone fluid, or castor oil. See also GRAPHITE, COLLOIDAL.
LUBRICATING OIL,RAILWAY CAR AND LOCOMOTIVE
A refined petroleum product suitable for all-year use in journal bearings of railway cars, steam and electric locomotives, and railway gun carriages.
A grease designed for the lubrication and sealing of plug valves, characterized by insolubility in the fluids flowing through the system. Special types may have collateral uses where resistance to various fluids is desired.
A grease designed for lubrication of aircraft components such as actuators, engine accessories, control bearings, landing gears, and wheel bearings. It does not include GREASE, AIRCRAFT AND INSTRUMENT and GREASE, INSTRUMENT.
GREASE,AIRCRAFT AND INSTRUMENT
A synthetic or mineral oil base grease designed for lubrication of antifriction bearings, lightly loaded gears, and on sliding and rolling surfaces of such equipment as instruments, cameras, electronic equipment and aircraft control systems. It is not specially prepared for salt spray resistance but can be used for a wide temperature range. Excludes GREASE (1), AIRCRAFT; and GREASE (1), INSTRUMENT.
A wide temperature range. synthetic base grease designed for lubrication of fire control equipment and instruments including related components, such as synchros, gyros, and in control and computing mechanisms. It is specially prepared for salt spray resistance. It does not include GREASE, AIRCRAFT AND INSTRUMENT; nd GREASE, AIRCRAFT.

GREASE,AUTOMOTIVE AND ARTILLERY
A grease with corrosion inhibitors designed for the lubrication of tactical automotive and artillery components suitable over an ambient temperature range of minus 65 degrees Fahrenheit to plus 125 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 53.9 Celsius to plus 51.67 Celsius).
A grease compounded specifically for the lubrication of railway equipment components, such as driving journals and running gear on locomotives, brake cylinders, and the like.
GREASE,WIRE ROPE-EXPOSED GEAR
A grease specifically intended for the lubrication of exposed gears and wire rope of hoists, winches, cranes, shovels, dredges, and other similar equipment.
GREASE,GROUND GLASS JOINT
A grease developed to seal mating ground glass joints of a temporary nature on the high vacuum side of laboratory apparatus and to enable the joint to be disassembled readily. Excludes PETROLATUM, TECHNICAL; and GREASE, LABORATORY STOPCOCK.
GREASE,LABORATORY APPARATUS STOPCOCK
A grease designed for both the lubrication and sealing of mating surfaces of laboratory equipment, such as glass stopcocks and desiccators. Excludes PETROLEUM, TECHNICAL.
GREASE,SILICONE INSULATED ELECTRIC MOTOR
A grease designed for the lubrication of silicone insulated electric motors with heat stabilized ball and roller bearings and other specialized high temperature applications.
A grease designed for lubrication of highly loaded Naval Ordnance components, such as rollers, tracks, pinions, and racks of gun turrets, and for slush-on lubrication of open or semi-inclosed gears exposed to salt spray.
A grease designed for the lubrication of gears in an underwater gearcase of an outboard motor.

A grease designed primarily for the lubrication of ball and roller bearings operating at constant or intermittent high temperatures. A grease designed for lubrication and preservation of Naval Ordnance plain, ball, and roller bearings, and for the preservation of threads on ammunition. It is specially prepared for salt spray resistance.
A grease designed for lubrication and preservation of small arms, such as the .30 caliber rifle and the .30 caliber carbine.
A grease suitable for the lubrication of automotive components, such as chassis, wheel bearings, or water pumps. It does not include GREASE, AUTOMOTIVE AND ARTILLERY.

A fluid of petroleum origin characterized by high viscosity index, used as a power transmission medium in hydraulically-actuated systems and apparatus.

It has no flash point, is noncorrosive and nontoxic, and has additives to prevent wear. A liquid free from suspended matter, water and sediment, with high volume resistivity. It is specifically formulated for use in a TRANSDUCER, SONAR.
LUBRICATING OIL,MOLYBDENUM DISULFIDE
A suspension which consists of fine molybdenum disulfide particles in mineral oil or silicone fluid.
A wide temperature range grease formulated for use as a lubricant of aircraft guns, accessory equipment, ammunition, and the like. Excludes GREASE, AIRCRAFT and GREASE, AIRCRAFT AND INSTRUMENT.
HYDRAULIC FLUID,FIRE RESISTANT
A stable synthetic fluid, free from water, for applications where bearing pressures are high and where temperatures repeatedly exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit. It has a high flash point, is noncorrosive and nontoxic, and has additives to prevent wear. Excludes HYDRAULIC FLUID, NONCOMBUSTIBLE; HYDRAULIC FLUID, NONPETROLEUM BASE, AIRCRAFT; and BRAKE FLUID, AUTOMOTIVE.
A mixture with a mineral and/or synthetic base, not having a true grease structure. It contains a thickening agent which increases viscosity. The lubricant is compounded specifically to be effective in a wide temperature range. Excludes GREASE, AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE.
A dispersion of finely powdered lubricating solids in a suitable binder intended for bonding on surfaces of parts in aircraft, missiles, automotive and industrial equipment, and other applications where temperature, inacessability, contamination, etc., render conventional lubricants unsatisfactory or impractical. Limited to those parts that will not require reapplication of the film during the normal life of the part except where the material will be used for break-in purposes in conjunction with other approved oils and greases. A thermally stable synthetic oil which may contain additives to improve load-carrying oxidation stability and antifoaming properties. This lubricating oil is intended for use in specific models of aircraft turboprop and turboshaft engines. Excludes LUBRICATING OIL, AIRCRAFT TURBINE ENGINE, SYNTHETIC.
A liquid used to lubricate and cool cutting tools in the machining of metals. It usually consists of mineral or fatty oils, mixtures thereof, or emulsifiable oils. It may contain additives, such as sulfur, chlorine or phosphorus compounds, emulsions composed of a mixture of oil, emulsifiers and water, colloidal suspensions of surfactants, wetting agents and rust inhibitors, or aqueous solutions composed of surfactants, nitrites salts, and organic amines.
LUBRICATING OIL,EXPOSED GEAR
A heavy-bodied residual, tacky petroleum oil, with or without additives, for lubrication of exposed gears of heavy equipment. It may be used on chain or wire rope.

A petroleum oil prepared principally for lubrication in piston type aircraft engines.
A petroleum oil, a synthetically prepared product, or a combination thereof, prepared primarily for lubrication in crank cases of internal combustion engines. It usually contains additives for corrosion prevention and oxidation prevention, and may contain detergents. See also LUBRICATING OIL, UTILITY. LUBRICANT,INTERLOCKING SLIDE FASTENER
An oily or waxy substance which produces a smooth film for reducing friction in the operation of interlocking slide fasteners.
LUBRICATING OIL,AIR COMPRESSOR
A synthetic or petroleum based oil prepared for lubrication of air compressors.
LUBRICATING OIL,PRESERVATIVE,CORROSION INHIBITED
A petroleum oil containing additives to provide contact as well as vapor phase protection. It is suitable for preservation in inclosed systems where the volatile components of the oil will provide protection above the oil level. Excludes LUBRICATING OIL, WEAPONS.
A homogeneous petroleum hydrocarbon, with or without additives. It is used as a quenching media in the heat treatment of metals.

A synthetic fluid with corrosion inhibitors, specifically intended for use in aircraft arresting gear systems. A homogenous blend of virgin petroleum oil stocks or synthetic oils, with or without additives, for use in food processing equipment where there may be incidental contact with food.The lubricating oil shall be approved for such application (rating H1) by the USDA.
A fire-resistant, water-based fluid specifically designed as a power transmission medium for aircraft launching systems.
